Esse mês eu fui conhecer pela primeira vez essa cidade de que tanto ouvia falar. E a minha reação foi só uma: because I never came here before?!!

Obidos is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and I have to agree with that! The village is surrounded by walls of sec. XVII and has no way to walk the streets and not fall in love with the colors and all cultural representation that the city has.

In 1282, D. Dinis and Queen Isabel won the Village as gift nuptials and since then, the city became a dowry of queens up 1834;

In 1755, Obidos was destroyed by an earthquake.

And it was in Obidos 1808 that has been started the Battle of Roliça, during the French invasion, where Napoleon suffered the first defeat of the Peninsular War.

It is surreal to imagine that you're walking through places where many important events happened that we both read in history books.

O que fazer em Óbidos

Meet the famous Obidos Castle;

Climb on top of the wall and floor surrounding the whole village and see the city from above, It is a view inesquecivel;

visit 3 main churches: Church of Santa Maria, Mercy Church and the Church of St. Peter.

Visit the Municipal Museum of Obidos, where the works of the famous painter Josefa de Obidos.

On the main avenue is full of restaurants with ginjinha, a wonderful liquor you can not fail to try. Many stores Tiles and crafts typical of regiaos.

Fizemos muitas pausas para fotos, because after photo is picture and can not miss

How to get

The town is 80km from Lisbon and to get there you can choose to go by car by motorway A8 or A15.

You can go by bus and look passages here: http://www.rodoviariadooeste.pt/

Or go by train : http://www.cp.pt/

Onde comer

We went to lunch at the restaurant Ja!my Ja!mon, from the entrance the restaurant since the conquest by vintage decoration.

We ordered a cold inlet and red house wine to accompany. And the main course, was a delicious Cod to Lagareiro, the smell and the noise of the fish roasting pan on the stone was a fun part.

And the main tip is: call to make reservation. The restaurant is trendy, very nice cozy.

The food was wonderful and the service was exceptional, the price was not anything but the average that we are already accustomed to Lisbon. I rate 10 in all.

And if one day you go to Obidos and eat there, tell me what you think. I'd love to know.
